How to Fix Problem “Document opens in Wordpad instead of MS Word”?

When you try to open your MS Word document from desktop or any other location by double clicking on it but the file opens with WordPad instead of desired MS Word Version. You may get a series of error messages that claim your file cannot be opened.

Cause: You are facing this problem because your MS Word registration has been expired.

Solution: To workaround this problem, you have to re-register your MS Word program.

For MS Word 95: For this version, first of all search the file winword.reg on your system and double click on it to re-register the MS Word 95.

For MS Word 97 & Above Version:

1. Click On the ‘Start’ Button

2. Now Select & Click on the ‘Run’ option from the list.

3. An ‘Open’ dialog box will be appear, type: winword /r and hit ‘Enter’ button from keyword.
