MS Word 2007: Not showing images



Recently one of my colleague told me that whenever she tried to open her MS Word document containing images, the image does not appear. She tried to open the document on another computer and it just works fine. I did a little search on this issue and came to know that this issue may occurs if some of the Word options are disable and to display images properly, you need to enable them.

Causes which Corrupt MS Word File

MS Word is one of those applications which are extensively used by a layman like student of class 8th as well as a professional content writer. It offers advantageous writing features such as automatic grammar and spell check, option to add images, tables, charts, etc in our document and many more. Word 2007 Error - .docx Cannot Be Opened Because There Are Problems With the Content

Office Open XML is new format that has been introduced in Office 2007. Based on XML and ZIP archive technologies, a file saved in MS Word 2007 is divided into document parts. Each of these parts defines a part of overall file contents. Thus it becomes easy to create and modify Word 2007 document, either programmatically or manually.

Such files are saved with .docx extension. But they can catch odds of corruption due to unexpected shutdown, virus attack, application faults and other similar causes. However, if your recent file backup than you can easily recover and restore the file. But backup issues necessitate the use Word Repair applications.

While trying to open a Word document, you might receive the below error message:

"The Office Open XML File xxxxx.docx cannot be opened because there are problems with the content."

Where, xxxx represents the name of Word 2007 document. Further, when you click Details of the error message, you get another error:

"The file is corrupt and cannot be opened."
Or
"Word found unreadable content. Do you want to recover the contents of this document, click yes."

"Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close"

Microsoft Word is used for a multiplicity of applications by offices users. As it is commonly used tool, it is also prone to various kinds of problems. One of the most common error messages is:

"Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

The reasons for this problem are:

  • Word has been installed on a Windows XP supported computer, while its compatibility options are not supported by this software.
  • The normal or default template Normal.dot has been corrupted or damaged. To overcome this problem you need to remove the Compatibility Mode Setting in Windows XP
You need to locate and open the folder on the drive on which Word is installed:

drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office

Right-click on Winword.exe, and then click on Properties.

Click the Compatibility tab, click to clear all the check boxes, and then click OK.

If you still face this problem, you can follow these steps to temporarily rename the default or Normal .dot template to check if it is the reason for this problem. For this, you need to follow these steps:
  • Close all the programs.
  • Click on Start, and then on Search.
  • Click on All files and folders.
  • In first text box (All or part of the file name field or box) type Normal.dot.
  • Select My Computer in Look In field or box.
  • Then Click on Search.
  • On each detail of Normal.dot, right-click on the file, click Rename, and then type OldNormal.dot.
  • Close Search Results, and then start Word.
